It was a story that I have heard many times, in many styles. It all says the same. The moral any language remains the same. If you cry wolf a little too many times people are eventually going to stop listening to you. Only twist in the tale is if, the real wolf strolled in one day and tore apart the people and boy (having seen the wolf running off to save himself. Was crying wolf a mischievous prank or a careful plot? Who would be to blame in this situation? And what would be to blame?
It would not be feasible and practical for people to look into every hoax. But this becomes a major weakness. This is how it goes.
Every hacker knows that is easier to hack into a network when you have made several fake attacks on network. Once the administrators are complacent and are expecting an attack similar to series of attacks, hacker gives them a slip and goes though a different door. It works much perfectly, if the first series of attacks were used to plant the seed for the unseen door, unseen.
The trick is to move the goal posts to away from the your true desire. It’s a decoy. It’s a distraction. In economics it for the numbers to be based on something that will not make your present figure look bad.
For example take an inflation figure on a higher base and your steep increase would look much less. Consumers of course would have tough time, convincing themselves the prices have risen only so much. But the unfortunate fact is they always believe the numbers and not themselves. Numbers must be correct!
