Angels in dust - Conquest of death

Part A

Hindu mythology has an interesting tale of resurrection. All civilizations have stories of resurrection. But some stories stand apart. In Hindu mythology one story that stands apart is the story related to Maha Mruthunjaya Mantra.

It is out of scope here to tell you this story. But what makes this legend so special is that God hands down a great sage Sukracharya, a mantra (invocation), whereby he can bring the dead people back to life. This is the total power over death and only such instance (in stories) that I have come across. Ability to regenerate is very precious. The legitimacy of such stories is always on the fringes of imagination. You wish it really worked the way it did in stories but you don’t see that happen in real life. In real life you see death, loss of loved ones, if only we had this kind of magic. I always wondered why doctors don’t look into this kind of research.

"Nothing comes until the time comes."

It remained an interesting story to me. Actually, this mantra was supposed to be a secret and I had never even heard it! To look for it, would perhaps be equivalent to looking for Holy Grail or Fountain of youth. Somehow, I even missed looking for the interpretation. Then a magic happened. I came across the chant/rendition of Maha Mruthunjaya Mantra by Dalai Lama. What made this most interesting is it accompanied with it an interpretation by Dalai Lama. To say it opened my eyes would be a massive understatement.

For the first time I came to know it was part of Rig Veda and therefore not so secret at all. I am quoting the translation and explanation of the Holy mantra by Dalai Lama, as in the accompanied note.

+ + + + +

Translation: I meditate on, and surrender myself to, the Divine Being who embodies the power of will, the power of knowledge, and the power of action. I pray to the Divine Being who manifests in the form of fragrance in the flower of life and is the eternal nourisher of the plant of life. like a skillful gardener, may the Lord of Life disentangle me from the binding forces of my physical, psychological, and spiritual foes. May the lord of Immortality residing within me free me from death, decay and sickness and unite me with immortality.

Explanation: This is a healing and nourishing mantra and is in a sense, "the Heart of Vedas." The healing force awakened by this mantra sends forth its ripples from body to psyche and from psyche to soul. It strengthens our powers of will, knowledge and action, thus unblocking the flow of enthusiasm, courage and determination. The vibration of this mantra awakens the internal healing force while attracting nature's healing agents, creating an environment where the forces from both origins converge. This mantra connects us to the healer within and helps us receive the full nourishment from food, herbs, or any discipline undertaken for our total well being.

+ + + + +

It is wonderful indeed. Read the explanation again and again.

“This is a healing and nourishing mantra” says Dalai Lama. He adds “It strengthens our powers of will, knowledge and action”

This is wonderful. I do not have any qualification to comment on anything here but sharing couple of thoughts. Great thought to meditate on.

This mantra is all and only about life. The life that we live that is most important. I don’t find any recipes to cure the death, as in loss of life.

If I may meditate further, it is a Holy Mantra that channelises the divine energy and blessings to enable us to live Life to its fullest. By living the Life to its fullest, we conquer death and decay.

Death is loss of Life. As long as we have Life, there is no Death.

Part B

It has been many months that this great note landed on my hard drive. I have had many months to contemplate on this. But what triggered my slothy fingers to type this out was a wonderful documentary titled “Angels in dust”. A documentary featuring work of Marion Coelete and her family. Marion and her family have been working in South Africa helping provide housing, education and security to orphans of AIDS. The family has been helping the victims of AIDS. This documentary is a must watch.

So, what made me write this in conjunction with the Holy mantra? Well, it is life. Marion represents life. Marion is that shining hope that conquers death, not as in loss of life. But in the power to fight the death and decay of mind. Loss of hope is death. The state where life cannot be lived to fullest is death.

There is so much death, in this documentary and in fact across the world, that you wish this mantra would work as it did in stories. But that would be against the laws of nature. A fantasy. Bible states he who has come from dust shall return to dust.

What mantra, and in this film Marion, gives is a smile on weary face, the will to live, the urge to fight sickness and decay and not give into death until the hour is truly upon us. And the triumph is there to be seen in all walks of life. From the lad who beats all the odds to bring enough electricity into his remote African home to light 3 light bulbs to the lad who studied under the city lights to become one of the top administrators to the paper boy who went on to become the President of India to Marion who spreads cheer among inconsolable community.

There are many many more inspirational stories, nay facts, out there, which can bring a person of his deepest despondency.

There is life and light out there, there are angels to guide us, there is life waiting to embrace us, just try. Just try.

Part C

Hope is such a funny thing
Its there when you sing,
Look around and try find;
No where else, but within.

Search deep and questions arise,
Which the new day washes away.
All the pains and sorrows gone
When hope shines its golden rays.

Life is hard dreams defraught
A moment to live is so far off,
A moment to love is never there,
Its not over until hope is left.

Hidden are great treasures
Open eyes to see,
When you find hope so near
Life just gets better.

You Still Have Hope

If you can look at the sunset and smile, then you still have hope.
If you can find beauty in the colors of a small flower, then you still have hope.
If you can find pleasure in the movement of a butterfly, then you still have hope.
If the smile of a child can still warm your heart, then you still have hope.
If you can see the good in other people, then you still have hope.
If the rain breaking on a roof top can still lull you to sleep, then you still have hope.
If the sight of a rainbow still makes you stop and stare in wonder, then you still have hope.
If the soft fur of a favored pet still feels pleasant under your fingertips, then you still have hope.
If you meet new people with a trace of excitement and optimism, then you still have hope.
If you give people the benefit of a doubt, then you still have hope.
If you still offer your hand in friendship to others that have touched your life, then you still have hope.
If receiving an unexpected card or letter still brings a pleasant surprise, then you still have hope.
If the suffering of others still fills you with pain and frustration, then you still have hope.
If you refuse to let a friendship die, or accept that it must end, then you still have hope.
If you look forward to a time or place of quiet and reflection, then you still have hope.
If you still buy the ornaments, put up the Christmas tree or cook the supper, then you still have hope.
If you can look to the past and smile, then you still have hope.
If, when faced with the bad, when told everything is futile, you can still look up and end the conversation with the phrase...'yeah...BUT., ' then you still have hope.

Hope is such a marvelous thing. It bends, it twists, it sometimes hides, but rarely does it break. It sustains us when nothing else can. It gives us reason to continue and courage to move ahead, when we tell ourselves we'd rather give in.
Hope puts a smile on our face
when the heart cannot manage.
Hope puts our feet on the path when our eyes cannot see it.
Hope moves us to act
when our souls are confused of the direction.

Hope is a wonderful thing, something to be cherished and nurtured, and something that will refresh us in return.
And it can be found in each of us, and it can bring light into the darkest of places.

Never lose hope!

Cognitive rules of business presentations

In his recent book, Clear and to the Point, Kosslyn explained that the four rules of PowerPoint are: The Goldilocks Rule, The Rudolph Rule, The Rule of Four, and the Birds of a Feather Rule. Here's how they work. The Goldilocks Rule refers to presenting the "just right" amount of data. Never include more information than your audience needs in a visual image. As an example, Kosslyn showed two graphs of real estate prices over time. One included ten different numbers, one for each year. The other included two numbers: a peak price, and the current price. For the purposes of a presentation about today's prices relative to peak price, those numbers were the only ones necessary. The Rudolph Rule refers to simple ways you can make information stand out and guide your audience to important details -- the way Rudolph the reindeer's red nose stood out from the other reindeers' and led them. If you're presenting a piece of relevant data in a list, why not mak...

Monetary inflation, Spiritual devaluation

Its been sometime I have been trying to make some special people understand the evils of inflation. Inflation is an abstract subject most of us dont know about, let alone understand the technicalities amidst jargons. I have in my previous post have briefly touched the social part of inflation but never in a concentrated way. I understand what my friends mean when they say "tell me in layman’s language." It is not a heartening sign, that they avoid technicalities. But it could well be that knowing where they stand, their role and understanding the social changes in the light of inflation may motivate them to understand the term "inflation." This is just to highlight the brief points. First and the foremost, is there any link between inflation numbers and society. Yes. The relation is same as the relation between society and money. What is money? Money is an easy means of exchange. If I am selling my horses to a pig-farmer and I am not interested in taking pigs in ret...

Unprecedented External Demand Shock Underway

India’s export growth averaged 24.8% over the last three years, driven by strong global growth. However, over the last three months, export growth has decelerated sharply. While until recently the strong demand from emerging markets including Latin America, Emerging Europe, the Middle East and Africa ensured that export growth remained healthy, over the last three months disruptions in the macro environment of these economies have been evident. Apart from weakening demand, exports have also been affected by the lack of availability of foreign trade credit and inventory liquidation. India’s exports declined by 12.1%Y in October 2008 compared with 10.4% in September and 26.9% in August. While we expect some improvement in the second half of 2009, exports are likely to be unusually weak over the next six months. We now expect exports to decline by 5.3%Y in 2009 compared with 12.7% in 2008 (estimated) and 23.1% in 2007 Excerpt source
