There are many many views expressed on Karnataka polls, but none close to the clarity and insight that of Ranganath of Public TV.
So many people on the national TV seem to miss few key points why the polls turned out how they actually turned out.
Among so many reasons one strongest of the reasons, the very core which starts all the other 'corruption' 'infighting' reasons is this -- BJP made fatal errors of holding on the Yeddurappa for long time, longer than was needed even after he was directly under the fire of CBI, Courts and Lokayuktha. The biggest mistake of BJP was that it held on, awkwardly supported a case of evident wrong doing. The later developments were outgrowth of these BJP leadership's support to a corrupt-CM while so many able contenders were available to take reins.
The problem for Congress is simply this: IF this Karnataka polls is any template of public reaction to -- 1) Political parties protection and support to the tainted minsters, 2) Political parties' denial of the corruption and inaction to correct it; 3) and the BIG factor of Corruption itself! then Congress has had it. Congress will face devastating anti-incumbency factor coupled by 'corruption' and 'denial' related factors that are several factors of larger than what happened in Bellary.
Simply put, the coming Lok Sabha elections could sound death knell to Congress' dominant status across the country.
Ps:
1. Also, this would mean that early elections is pretty much ruled out. Congress will try to ride it to maximum time trying to give more freebies to blunt the edge as much as possible.
2. Large dominance of regional parties will make a real mess of coalition; unless BJP really rakes it in to become a dominant factor to run the country.
