Its a Season of Scams for a reason

Sometimes I think as to why so many scams are coming out. There has to be some reason for this. It could not be that there were no scams in past or that media was so lackluster as to identify one.

The social changes like literacy, urbaisation and rapid disbursement of news via cable and social media had definitely had an impact. However still, why now?

If you take stock market's analogy (or for that matter of economy by extension) most scams happen at the Top. When everything is going good and when the scamsters hope their scams can run some more and remain underground. But AFTER the top, the shifts in loyality and unability to paint more bright pictures of future creates huge risks for scamsters who are now vulnerable to any surfacing of evidences or conspiracies. This should envenutally lead to convictions and a general clean up of the system.

IMO, these scams clearly represent the TOP in something. I am hard-pressed to believe that it is the economy. It is unlikely with such a young population.

Among the thing that seems perfectly synced well with Its-Over-The-Peak theory are the fortunes of Congress party.

With the number of Congressmen who are engulfed in the shame of scams, it is hard to foresee how they will survive under the present and future circumstances. Also, all the ambitious Congressmen might be better off by jumping the ship to other parties or form their own splinter factions. Remaining, within the core party while it steadily looses steam would be ruinous to the careers of these smart people.

Given the amnesia of general public, the dirty linen being washed in public right now are very hard to digest. They are likely to remain in memory for a much longer time to come. The duration of this memory will be dependent on how badly the economy fares and depending on who writes the history books to blame the economic downturn.

The same TOP-theory can arguably made case for other major National parties like BJP, CPI or JD. But since they are not currently under the direct line of fire, they may be less impacted in short term than Congress.

This is a Season of Scams because, IMO, Congress is over. More the number of scams unearthed, the faster it disappears. Probably it is a better idea for parties like BJP to come to power and start a real witch-hunt against Congress and its allies to finish it off once and for all. And it is in interest of Congress that they do what ever is possible to hide and ensure there aren't evidences. Meanwhile, some of these parties really need to sponsor several authors to write on these scams - to bring out the truth or to confuse. The party first to hit the market sets the pace.

Cognitive rules of business presentations

In his recent book, Clear and to the Point, Kosslyn explained that the four rules of PowerPoint are: The Goldilocks Rule, The Rudolph Rule, The Rule of Four, and the Birds of a Feather Rule. Here's how they work. The Goldilocks Rule refers to presenting the "just right" amount of data. Never include more information than your audience needs in a visual image. As an example, Kosslyn showed two graphs of real estate prices over time. One included ten different numbers, one for each year. The other included two numbers: a peak price, and the current price. For the purposes of a presentation about today's prices relative to peak price, those numbers were the only ones necessary. The Rudolph Rule refers to simple ways you can make information stand out and guide your audience to important details -- the way Rudolph the reindeer's red nose stood out from the other reindeers' and led them. If you're presenting a piece of relevant data in a list, why not mak...

Value of dollar - Part 1

A Simple Perspective Will Do The date is 2000-05-28. Don't you get tired of all the bad news bears reminding you of all these instabilities, excesses, and 'potential' tensions in the global economy? After all, hasn't it always been like that? Yes it has, but not in money it hasn't. Increasingly, investors find it harder to know where to put their savings. What about Government Bonds? Wrong. Their recent record of capital losses have wiped out your guaranteed yields, probably because the stock market keeps crowding them out, and this even in a strong dollar and low inflation environment. Furthermore, there is no reliable liquidity and potentially poor quality debt in the corporate sector. Foreign assets? Wrong. Most of the world's economies are riskier, have been under performing, and also, there is this thing called currency risk. Like how is the average person gonna cope with currency...

Depreciation of British Pound 1900-2000

When the Bank of England was formed the powers to create money was finally transferred to private hands. The creation of Fed in US, was just a part of this cycle. Though it is a common knowledge US Dollar has depreciated nearly 100% since the creation of Federal Reserve, the same is the case of all the currencies across the globe. For example, below is the UK Parliament data that highlights the depreciating value of Pound.
