I write something that I am no master at all to write. I happened to write because a situation made me to. I may be correct or wrong, not my decision to make. I would assume I am wrong, in expectation of more knowledge and guidance. If this is of any use to you, we are only too happy about that. As I said this is not mine to write and for all purpose, I didn't.
A Walk in A Dream
First and foremost what is that in which we are all here. Scientists call it universe, people generally call it the world, astronomers call it a planet, geologists call crust etc, but what exactly is this and where did this come from.
The Primary point to note is that this world exists for You because You are here to see it. If You were not here to see it, then this how will You know if this world even existed?
Let’s take some examples. Assume you are on a vacation and one day when you are taking a stroll in a wooded enclave and come across a handicrafts shop. Now that we have seen the shop we know that such-and-such entity exists. If we had not taken the stroll at all, would we have ever known that entity exists? So, if you were not here, how would you not know this universe exists. It exists only because you are here to see it. The moment you are not here to see it, it ceases to exist.*
[*Memory is a function of time (and memorizer). So the history of such a thing existed is a lie. This is because for a simple fact, that time does not exist. We only perceive time for our benefit.]
Now, then if we are here, then what are we here in and why are we here? Let’s first try and understand the ‘what’ puzzle. We are in something that is created by the existence of the beholder. (Something, anything, exists only because there is an entity to notice it.)
Now that we see lots of things around us, and something that will not have existed if beholder had not existed, what is it that makes the beholder unique as to give life into these vacuum People call it by various names Consciousness, Atma, Self and many more.
And since Self (lets call it that, for now), has to go and create then entire paraphernalia of the universe for its-Self by observing it, it would mean that it doesn't have to go “into” a universe to exist and see. It is either already in it or can create it from where-ever place it is currently situated.
It is logical to know that “already in it” place and the “ currently situated” place must be one and same. If it is so, then, Self is basically situated at one place creating its own versions of universe at it seems fit.
Now, we also see there are lots of people around us, supposedly independent of our Self, and acting on their own wishes and priorities.
Now, If it is the universe that my-Self created, then everything in it would be under my control. However, we see (perceive) there are other people who also are the same bit as we are, and observing us through their observation.
Now the question is, who created whom? Pertinently, are we in “universe of our creation” or are we in “universe of observer’s creation.” Since, we are one and the same (or so we think) there has to be only one possible explanation to this – that there is a higher hierarchy that binds all these “observer universes” into into one combined universe.
To explain on the above point further, if Selfs inhabit each other’s universe, there must be some connection between each Selfs. Hence, it would mean that everything that is observing, perceiving and enjoying this universe must be part of one Single Self.
[As a counter, we may argue that there are infinite universes in existence for each Self. If such a thing is possible, then it may also be so that numbers are truly infinite. And importantly, it may not come together at any point in time. For example, if person X knows person Y in one universe, and does not know in the other universe, lets name it Meet universe and Un-Meet universe; in Un-Meet universe X and Y can never meet at all, and if they do the entire Un-Meet universe ceases to exist. Therefore, it is logical and easier to assume that all Universe is just one, with infinite possibilities In terms of example, all universes are Meet-universes, whether X and Y meet is a choice they always have.]
So, few things pointed out (so to say,) 1) Observer is the basis of the universe, 2) All Selfs are connected and 3) We all share a universe (or as scietists may say, we share a timeline)
The follow up questions may be, if all Selfs are connected, who/ what is the connection? You may also ask, if everything comes into existence by the existence of an observer, who or what is this observer of all the Selfs are?
[For ease, let’s use Self (singular) as synonymous to all the Selfs (plural) in the world.]
So, who is this Self, who is watching all the Self.
We can call Him, God may be. By any other name, effort or form, for the creators of that manifestation exist only because of that Observer. Hence, we may assume, the Larger Self sanctioned such and such a project.
In Indian mythology, it is believed that entire Universe exists because of the dream of Lord Vishnu. And this universe will cease to exist when this dream ends.
[Please note, that we call it or assume it as a ‘dream’ because creations in dream is the most affectionate at the same time most useless of all creations, all dreams have an end, and such a beautiful effortless creation looks to humans like a dream. And also, why would God bother to create a ‘hard copy’ of all these intangible products? Not that it is impossible, just that it’s unnecessary, irrelevant and useless.]
The beauty of this The Dream is that for everybody who exists in it by the virtue of the Seer of The Dream, think they own and operate lots of controls in The Dream. However, it is not so. The Dream belongs to the Dreamer, and the creations in that Dream are manifestation of The Seer’s observations. But probably, to make it interesting – the Selfs created by virtue of observation think they are masters of several things within The Dream. This can only be explained as a veil of illusion that The Dream purposefully* covers on individual Selfs to make it more interesting perhaps.
[*This has to be a purposeful move because everything in The Dream is under control. No renegades there. If a Self / actor in unable to perceive something, then it must have been designed so. It couldn't be an accident. Nothing can be an accident here.]
Let’s try a bit at core problem.
Now, we understand that Self(s) are part of The Dream seen by The Observer, the Self itself is a creation of The Seer. Hence, The Self and The Seer are closely linked. Let’s say, one and the same, yet with some illusory difference*.
[The Seer and The Self are one and the same because of the origination. However, since Self are actors in The Dream, there is a difference. For instance, the promoter of the company and all its employees are colleagues and working for same company; however, promoter is the owner of the setup, while we work in that setup.]
To summarize, The Dream is in process with creates Selfs, who in turn create universes around them. We kinda know now that, it makes sense to have a single universe where all the connected Selfs play out their time.
The flow ‘chart’* would look something like this then:
The Seer> The Dream> The Self(s)> the dream> Universe
[*The reason it is not a ‘flow’ or a ‘chart’ is that Nothing of this exists. The idea of such and such exists purely and only because The Seer exists. Its ephemeral** in true sense.]
[**It’s ephemeral because the moment you recognize it is ephemeral, we just take a step back into a function of higher realm. Simplistically said, if we can understand it, we still don’t know anything about it.]
So now, we have postulated few things about Self, Observed Universe, The Dream, and The Seer.
If you understand the fractal it is easier to understand the rest. Or to put it easy way, the child does what the father does.
How is the Self able to create the Universe? In the same way as The Seer does.
There need not be any difference in the way the “creation” takes place. There is no need to be different. People may say, “The process works.”
In a sense, the Self creates a sub-dream. A sub-set within the much larger set.
Hence, we can quickly grasp two things: One, that the creation of the Self is also a dream and importantly second, Self doesn't need a reason to or actually observe to create.
Further on the second point, we had assumed something had to be observed to be seen. IF we are extrapolating correctly, then we can refine assumption to: Self creates what it wants to create, as in a dream, whether it exists or not (in any physical plane) is immaterial. To wit, if you had wanted a handicrafts shop to be on the road you stroll, then it will be there. The shop existed because of your dream. If you wanted an ice-cream shop in its place, you would have it.
Now, if Self has created this entire universe as we ‘see it*’, what is it that Self/ Actor creates in his mundane dreams**.
[*Self created this universe as we “see it”, The Seer created this universe as we (try to) “know it.”]
[**To chart the flow further:
The Seer> The Dream> The Self(s)> the dream> Universe> Actor/Role> mundane dream]
Going by the earlier definition of fractal, we can assume the mundane dream must be exactly in “the same process” as the The Seer’s dream and The Self’s dream. In other words, all dreams are created from the same process (of which we know nothing) which creates illusory visible manifestations.
Now, if we understand how we create mundane-dreams in our everyday life – on how futile it is to create the world, its people, its characters, its plots, its emotions etc, right down to every other grain of sand that exists in that mundane-dream – we can have a glimpse of how The Seer “might” have created this entire Universe.
The importance of the mundane-dream, from a practical stand point, is that for at least just for few moments, we relegate back to our natural Self – the ones who can create the whole Universe by their thoughts. Hence, we are closest to being near Self, when we are dreaming / creating.
Importantly, not all dreams need to create. The aspect of Creation occurs only when there is a “thought.” What if, there is no thought? How will dream look like to a person who has no thought?
I can only guess, that such a dream will look like The Seer’s Thought, not dream. That is because, once all the “actions” of creations are abandoned, what’s left must be pure attribute and existence of Self. And if, we assume fractals work in inverse – i.e. father is like a child; the pure thoughtless dream must be the closest we can ever come to The Seer’s Thoughts#.
Hence, in a thoughtless (you may also call it - dreamless) mundane-dream, we are representations of the divine The Seer Himself / Herself. For that one bit of thoughtless dream, everything in the universe from people, to plants, to animals, to mountains, to oceans, to forests and to every grain of sand – is in sync with its Divine Creator, The Seer.
Now, if everything is a ‘ flash in a pan,’ why do you want to put an effort in any of the dream-scenarios.
For one, we are not the creators who made us be here. It is our Self which chose to create such a role for ourselves in this large drama. Once, a role is undertaken, irrespective of there is any activity or result, the dharma and duty of that role has to be fulfilled.
Knowing fully well, that this action has no permanent bearing is a plus and knowing well that this entire “doing the work” thing is also a part of larger dream is a plus+plus.
The role we create and play, is the role chosen by the Self, in direct sanction of The Seer through The Dream, hence there is no way an actor can dissuade not playing the role (even, though it sounds like actor has freewill.^)
The duties of the role, the dharma and the karma of it are all part of the dream. If we lift Mt. Kailas on our heads, we din’t lift it, it was just a dream. Neither have I written anything here, nor are you reading anything, it’s all a dream. It doesn't appear so because we are sitting too close to the television, stand back and look at this fragile impermanent space, the reality of this dream-like scenario comes into focus.
Hence, even though it is a dream – impermanent useless and of no consequence – it’s just our duty to play out with all the vigor all the activity the chosen role entitles. Good, Bad, People or Situations – don’t judge that, for they all exist in a greater purpose of The Dream of which vastness we cannot fathom. What we, little actors, do know is that we have some stage-time and some lines to deliver; we just have to deliver that.
Since, nothing can ever go off-control in this The Dream, even if you chose not to play your part, know that it was meant to be so. You are free to change your roles, lines or scripts; however, that was meant to be so. This is because of the large illusory veil The Dream pulls over our eyes, a curtain that hides The Seer and our relation to Him.
Of course once we realize, correctly or incorrectly, that Everything here is part of one large inconsequential dream-like state, then nothing matters – if you work it doesn't matter, if you don’t work it doesn't matter; funnily, whatever you “choose” was part of the script – because it was the Self who chose to play that role in first place and play it in such-and-such way.
So, don’t worry about what you do or not, know that you are part of a dream and enjoy the moments you have here on the stage of your own creation.
[#What might The Seer want to do or achieve? Nothing and Nothing.]
[^Probably the Self has freewill but its unlikely that Actors have freewill.]
