Power is BJP's to Win, If They Play It Right.

Politically, today's election results are a Game-Changer. Government has both good news and a bad news. The ball is now completely in BJP's court and how it will play it will determine its political fortunes for 2014 or earlier.

The background of the story is the same frustrating government with not a spine but heavily dependent on two opportunistic rogue allies. Government for all its bravado will not be able to do anything substantial in future even with help of these rogue allies.

The biggest news for congress simply is that BJP for all the stinking corruption charges against Congress, could not make a dent in Himachal Pradesh. This is not a win of Congress but a serious defeat of BJP in being able to capture its vote base. Nothing highlights the BJP's inadequacies better than the resounding defeat in HP despite all the incumbency odds stacked up against Congress.

From the perspective of Congress, this is a genuine relief. They would be very happy that people are still not pi**ed off enough to vote them out of power. They still have a lifeline or two.

The big news for BJP, was in Gujarat. The resounding win of Narendra Modi is a clear message that action-on-the-ground works better than thousand speeches and promises.

From the Congress' perspective it is now clear that they will not be able to stop the Modi-factor if it becomes pan-India.

Cutting the cr*p, simply put each party is left with a major action point:

a. BJP has to go into the next elections under the leadership of Modi. There cannot be any other way. Sushma and Jaitley are smart enough to get this message now. If they disagree on this, BJP will be relegated to the position they have in Himachal Pradesh now.

b. It is imperative for the Congress to stop this Modi-mania leaking all over India. They have to stop this strom-in-teacup before it assumes the proportions of a tour-de-force. And they precisely have time till:

   (a) BJP comes under the banner of Modi and
   (b) Modi begins his electioneering pan-India.

Depending on the BJP, Congress will have its window of opportunity. Any dilly dallying on the Leadership issue wil be critical for its survival. People like Yeddyurappa (the Ex-BJP's) will begin sniping at the voter base, and Congress will be a willing ally to such parties and people.

The plan of action, if they choose to take it, is very simple. Advani, Sushma, Jaitley and their motley crew agree to contest the next elections on the success and credentials of Narendra Modi. And if the are to do it, they have to it fast! And once the leadership is sorted out, rather realized, they will have to:

a. begin marketing the brand-Modi all India. Nothing, will scare Congress like brand Modi going pan-India, and,

b. with a strong assertive message and focus on the inefficiency and failures of the Manmohan Singh's government. More they are able to take the message across on the gross failures of this government, more they will help themselves into power.

In conclusion, the power of 2014 or ever earlier, is BJP's to take. Actually, it has been so for past year or so, but for the strange apathy to do it. Today, the message to BJP camp is loud and clear, and so too to Congress' camps - BJP can win only if only if Modi is at helm and Congress can win only if BJP decides to shoot itself in the foot.

Cognitive rules of business presentations

In his recent book, Clear and to the Point, Kosslyn explained that the four rules of PowerPoint are: The Goldilocks Rule, The Rudolph Rule, The Rule of Four, and the Birds of a Feather Rule. Here's how they work. The Goldilocks Rule refers to presenting the "just right" amount of data. Never include more information than your audience needs in a visual image. As an example, Kosslyn showed two graphs of real estate prices over time. One included ten different numbers, one for each year. The other included two numbers: a peak price, and the current price. For the purposes of a presentation about today's prices relative to peak price, those numbers were the only ones necessary. The Rudolph Rule refers to simple ways you can make information stand out and guide your audience to important details -- the way Rudolph the reindeer's red nose stood out from the other reindeers' and led them. If you're presenting a piece of relevant data in a list, why not mak...

Value of dollar - Part 1

A Simple Perspective Will Do The date is 2000-05-28. Don't you get tired of all the bad news bears reminding you of all these instabilities, excesses, and 'potential' tensions in the global economy? After all, hasn't it always been like that? Yes it has, but not in money it hasn't. Increasingly, investors find it harder to know where to put their savings. What about Government Bonds? Wrong. Their recent record of capital losses have wiped out your guaranteed yields, probably because the stock market keeps crowding them out, and this even in a strong dollar and low inflation environment. Furthermore, there is no reliable liquidity and potentially poor quality debt in the corporate sector. Foreign assets? Wrong. Most of the world's economies are riskier, have been under performing, and also, there is this thing called currency risk. Like how is the average person gonna cope with currency...

Depreciation of British Pound 1900-2000

When the Bank of England was formed the powers to create money was finally transferred to private hands. The creation of Fed in US, was just a part of this cycle. Though it is a common knowledge US Dollar has depreciated nearly 100% since the creation of Federal Reserve, the same is the case of all the currencies across the globe. For example, below is the UK Parliament data that highlights the depreciating value of Pound.
